I just want to thank everyone who has reached out to me to make sure I’m okay regarding this incident. I was close to where this occurred but luckily far enough away to not be affected directly. You may recall this is the same guy who was arrested about a month ago for harassing people on the AT with a machete. Well he was released and now has killed a hiker and badly injured another. Though I did not know the guy that was killed personally, I can say that the entire AT thru hiking community is utterly shocked and devastated by this senseless crime. The Appalachian Trail is such a beautiful place filled with so many amazing people. Things like this aren’t supposed to happen out here:( Thank you all for your continued support and prayers for my safety on this journey.
